See ya there! September 07 It's been a long time It's been a long time since I have posted to this blog. Many things have happened in the last year that have hindered my creativity and I am going to do my best to get it back and complete some old WIP's and maybe begin to create again. I thank you all for the wonderful thoughts and emails you have sent in the last year and I hope to come back with some wonderful treats for my many friends in the crochet community. In the words of Bender Rodriguez... "We're BACK, Baby!" February 07 Crochet Venus Fly TrapI crocheted this little critter yesterday and was hoping to get the details on last night...however, I am having some major issues on how to make the eyes (Or should I put them on here?). So since it isn't finished and so many people were waiting to see it, I thought I would post it as is... then perhaps you can give me some ideas on what to do? I am looking for a little plastic fly :P
Crocheted with F hook and Red Heart, Spring Green worsted weight yarn.
September 09 Modern Flapper Hat - The "Claire"This has been one of those patterns I have been wanting to try for a while :) Tonight I finally whipped it up.
It only took me about an HOUR to make this hat! The pattern is wonderfully written, and the finished project is just absolutely gorgeous. I used Caron Brites, Watermelon, to match my little Retro Wrist bag. :) Perfect match!!!
September 03 MY OTHER BLOGI would just like to take a moment to remind everyone about my other blog. I have taken a bit of time doing research and collecting information on simple ways to improve your health and your life. I practice what I preach and will generally NOT add anything on there until I have tried it and have seen improvement (Unless it is not something I can see, like cholesterol levels... which I never had a problem with anyway!) I also provide excellent recipes, most of which are healthy (Except the heavenly cake... ok... not too healthy, but sure yummy), and most of which are vegetarian (ovo-lacto, which means CAN include egg and milk products, ALL RECIPES CAN BE MADE VEGAN with proper substitutions).
I have information on weight loss (TRIED AND TRUE, lost 40 lbs using my own advice!), the importance of adding and removing certain foods to/from your diet, container gardening, sprouting, organic living, recipes and MORE.
I WELCOME ALL COMMENTS from you on either of my blogs, and value your input and suggestions, ESPECIALLY if you do make an attempt at anything that I post or even follow the recipes!
Thanks for being a loyal reader! August 29 Halloween Black CatDon't let one of these cross your path, especially at Halloween. Introducing my newest little guy, an Amigurumi style Black Cat JUST IN TIME for halloween gift giving! For fun, here is a link that discusses the history of the black cat urban legends! This little black cat was made from Black Worsted Weight yarn, an F hook, and took me only an evening to create. Definately a quickie project which will get wonderful reviews from the recipient or anyone who may view him! This pattern will be available soon at http://www.katcrochet.com July 02 People over 35 should be deadPeople over 35 should be dead. Here's why. According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, or even maybe the early 70's probably shouldn't have survived. Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. (Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.) As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat! We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors! We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. NO CELL PHONES!!!!! Unthinkable! We did not have Play-stations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms. We had friends! We went outside and found them. We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt. We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents? We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside us forever. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them! Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that! This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. And you're one of them! Congratulations!
Retro Wrist BagYes, I know it has been a while since I have updated my little blog and I apologize. I have been finishing up some projects and some miscellaneous "Not crochet" projects around the house.
I did finish this little one up last night
Retro Wrist bag is made out of Caron BRITES Worsted weight yarn in Watermelon and an "F" Hook. It was a simple bag to make and could have been finished in one day had I stuck with it :P The flower embellishment is from Caron PERFECT MATCH white and an "F" hook with a little 1/2 inch rhinestone which I glued to the bag.
I did end up lining this bag because I feel it is too stretchy. Of course, that only took less than an hour to do and that was mainly because I couldn't get the shape right. LOL
ALSO, I edited the pattern to shorten the strap by 6 rows and I think I may do a sc edge around the straps. Decorative yet functional!
This pattern will be posted at http://www.katcrochet.com soon. June 13 Witchy BunnyTonight, I whipped up this little sweety as a model for a witches hat that I have been asked to make for a friend. It only took me like 20 minutes to make this one out of worsted weight yarn and an I hook :D
Of course, I did write a pattern for it, and it will be available on my website tomorrow or so as I just need to type it up... if, that is, anyone actually WANTS to make a hat for their rabbit! LOL
June 12 Thanks, Everyone!I would like to thank everyone for the great success you have made our ghost cam. We have had some wonderful sightings!! I am not sure how long we will keep the cam up, so if you would like to see what all the fuss is about, go to http://www.katcrochet.com/webcam.htm
IF we decide to keep this cam up and running, I will eventually put it on it's own site, but for now... I am still keeping it on my crochet site.
AND A NOTE FOR ALL WHO HAVE ASKED, and the few who thought it was a ghost... When you see me with something black on my head, that is a snood (hair covering), LOL |
