Crochet Venus Fly Trap

I crocheted this little critter yesterday and was hoping to get the details on last night...however, I am having some major issues on how to make the eyes (Or should I put them on here?).  So since it isn't finished and so many people were waiting to see it, I thought I would post it as is... then perhaps you can give me some ideas on what to do? I am looking for a little plastic fly :P

Crocheted with F hook and Red Heart, Spring Green worsted weight yarn.

Retro Wrist Bag

Yes, I know it has been a while since I have updated my little blog and I apologize. I have been finishing up some projects and some miscellaneous "Not crochet" projects around the house.

I did finish this little one up last night

Retro Wrist bag is made out of Caron BRITES Worsted weight yarn in Watermelon and an "F" Hook. It was a simple bag to make and could have been finished in one day had I stuck with it :P The flower embellishment is from Caron PERFECT MATCH white and an "F" hook with a little 1/2 inch rhinestone which I glued to the bag.

I did end up lining this bag because I feel it is too stretchy. Of course, that only took less than an hour to do and that was mainly because I couldn't get the shape right. LOL

ALSO, I edited the pattern to shorten the strap by 6 rows and I think I may do a sc edge around the straps. Decorative yet functional!

This pattern will be posted at http://www.katcrochet.com soon.

Witchy Bunny

Tonight, I whipped up this little sweety as a model for a witches hat that I have been asked to make for a friend. It only took me like 20 minutes to make this one out of worsted weight yarn and an I hook :D

Of course, I did write a pattern for it, and it will be available on my website tomorrow or so as I just need to type it up... if, that is, anyone actually WANTS to make a hat for their rabbit! LOL

Utility Tool cover

Today I added a pattern for a Utility Tool Cover that I made to protect the tool that I keep in my Emergency kit. It turned out wonderful, in my opinion, and definately does the job well! I thought this would be something good for men, especially with Father's day just around the corner!

Made from Worsted Weight yarn, G hook, 1/0 snap (Although I recommend getting a stronger snap if this will be used every day, or even just velcro), and a small karabiner. EXTRA FAST, done in a day!

Crochet paperback bag

This is just a little bag that I was making as a gift. Didn't write out a pattern, sorry, but it really wouldn't be too hard to describe if someone REALLY wanted it. I used Red Heart ARAN worsted weight yarn, a G hook, and a "Corsage pin" that I found in the bargain bins at Michael's. I think the flower is just the perfect accent. This bag is also just large enough to hold a smaller Bible, Qur'an or other religious book.

Bag was completed in one night.

Kiyoshi the Amigurumi 'Shroom

Well, Last night I was so into shrooms that I made "Kiyoshi". As you can see she is a little larger than the first, with a different top. If I make her again I will make improvements for certain but I still think she turned out OK. I did write out a pattern. As always, the pattern is up for review at http://www.katcrochet.com  If you decide to test the pattern, please let me know how it turned out and if you catch any mistakes.

Kiyoshi was made with Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn in White, and some leftover JIFFY Worsted Weight in purple. I tried the 9 mm eyes on her to see how well the larger eyes would look on her. Took me about an hour to make.

Happy Little Amigurumi 'Shroom

After a long absense from updating my blog, I present for your consideration "Happy Little 'Shroom"  This little guy is sort of a rough draft for another project I am planning. I do have the pattern made out for "Happy Little Shroom", I posted it to my website http://www.katcrochet.com/freebies.html
This was a quick project, only taking me about an hour... if that... to complete. He is made out of Worsted Weight Red Heart Yarn. This is a beginners pattern.

Purses Galore

As most o fyou know, I spent well over a month in Alaska. That is why I have been unable to update my blog. Alaska brought no lack of crocheting however. :P While I was there I created three purses, 2 scarves, 2 teddy bears, a few miscellaneous "I am bored, just let me crochet" projects, and started a poncho then realized I had acquired one skein of REALLY old yarn LOL It was only 7 ounces instead of 8 and the texture sucked compared to what I am used to. LOL Wow, it is amazing what you can find in Alaska. LOL The three purses were a hit. Everyone who saw them liked them and wanted to know where I got them. Well, that really made me feel good because I DO like them a lot.

Here are all three of my bags. Hope you like them as much as I do.

If you are ever in Fairbanks/North Pole, Alaska, be sure to stop by Ben Franklin Arts and Crafts in North Pole, in the Safeway Gavora Mall. Their selection of teddy bear and doll making supplies made me drool. LOL They have tons of eyes and noses and the people are just wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly. I can honestly say my trip there was the absolute most pleasurable shopping experience that I have ever had. Their prices are comparable too! They carry many amazing and beautiful Alaskana projects that you can't find anywhere else. And NO, This is not a paid endorsement. I just really loved that store.

Puppy Poop Bag

Today was the last straw. Every day I take Rajah on a walk down this "park" behind my house, which is basically just a 30 mile trail that used to be a railroad and the converted it to a bicycle trail with a running trail beside it. There is no trash cans, nothing. Every day, it never fails, Rajah poops at the middle of our walk, so I have to carry this bag of poop (Big dog poop too, not little stuff) LOL I get all of these "I know what is in the bag grins" by all the runners and the cyclists that pass by me. It is embarassing! SO today, while watching the movie INDIGO http://www.indigothemovie.com (Gotta watch it) I created a solution.

My poop bag is wonderful (already tested it out). It looks like a purse (Although I dare someone to try to snatch THAT purse LOL) and I have made it to where you pull the bags from the bottom, and store the used bag in the top, which closes with a drawstring. It is light weight, and all the looks today was greetings and smiles. AND IT IS WASHABLE.

As far as a pattern goes, I didn't write this one down. It wasn't really all that difficult, so if someone is interested in the pattern, I could probably write it out real fast.

Enjoy

My next project involves a Strawberry shortcake doll for a special little girl. Unfortunately, the colors of yarn I need is apparently hard to come by locally so I will have to order it online. After that, I am going back to my aliens. LOL I am trying to figure out how to make him a space ship, space clothing, and maybe even a space pet. Any ideas plz lemme know.

The Aliens have Landed

PLEASE NOTE: All requests for this pattern will be delayed. You can request but I have decided I do not like the arms and will be redoing it. TRUST ME, the new arms will be MUCH better. All who request WILL receive the pattern ASAP. Promise.

In spirit of the new movie, War of the Worlds, and all other Sci Fi movies. I have in my boredom created a "Grey" who I am calling Ahmose. This is an Ancient Egyptian name meaning "The Moon is born" I do have a pattern for Ahmose, if anyone is interested. I wrote them out as I created him because I knew I would want to make another for myself. The pattern will make Ahmose, but keep checking as I will be making more Alien beings soon. :) As anyone can tell you, I am in LOVE with SciFi movies and especially ET, and Space themed features. Stargate is my favorite TV show, and Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) is the most handsome man in the world (Other than my husband of course).

And you thought the nickname "Yarn Nerd" wasn't fitting

LOL

If you are interested in this pattern, please email me directly as the pattern is quite long and I wouldn't want to take up the whole page here. isis_777@hotmail.com. Ahmose is copyright 2005 Katrina Wogoman (That's me!)

We have arrived - Basic Easy Purse Pattern

Well, we made it to Sterling, VA and I will tell ya.... I had quite the scare.  When I opened my 3 yarn boxes, my crochet hooks were no where to be found.  I emailed my Mom to see if I had left them there when I visited, I didn't. So I just bummed around for a few days even tho my hubby told me I could go this weekend to buy more.

Last night I was unpacking my Computer software when what should appear? HOW it got in the computer box, I have absolutely no clue, so what did I do? IMMEDIATELY MADE ANOTHER PURSE! (My cam is still MIA tho, so you will just have to take my word on it. LOL) This purse took me a little over an HOUR to complete. (That is why I made it with 2 strands. I needed a purse fast (Sunflower purse was damaged in trip... actually, dog decided to shed on it so bad that there isn't a hope in the world of cleaning it. ALTHOUGH, I will try. :)

I used Forest green CARON yarn, an I hook, and all SC

Using 2 strands of Yarn

CH25

1. 2SC in 2nd CH from hook, *SC in next 23 CH, 3 SC in last CH

Working on back side of CH, *SC in next 23 CH, 3 SC in last CH

2. Repeat step 1 except there will be  * SC in the next 25 SC

3. Repeat step 1, except there will be * SC in the next 27 SC

4. SC in each SC around  (60 SC)

5. Repeat 4 until desired size

If you do not want a flap, end here.

6. SC in the next 26 SC, CH1, TURN

7. Reoeat Step 6 until flap is the desired length, tie off

STRAP

I didn't measure how many I chained for the strap. I like my straps extra long because I tend to wear mine around my neck.  BASICALLY I did  a CH to the desired length and then did one row SC then Tied off and attacked to the INSIDE of the bag.

This is the same method I used for the sunflower bag, except I used a G hook and one strand of yarn. On the strap I did 3 rows of SC instead of one with the G hook.

Fancy Dog Sweater

I am on a dog sweater kick this week. Today I made another sweater out of  Red Heart Worsted weight yarn, and DIVA for my Mom's Pomeranian... or whichever of the two will fit in the sweater. LOL Without seeing the dog it is hard to measure. Yumos is being a great sport and modeling this sweater as well (Poor Rabbit). I am also going to make a hat out of the same 2 yarns as soon as I can get to the dogs to measure their heads LOL

The pattern for this sweater is the same as the Rabbit sweater in exception of the diva, which was a spur of the moment idea LOL As you can see, it is both too big on Yumos, but he isn't fond of it. Possibly too girly for him?

Bunny Hat and Sweater

I completed the project that I made for my poor pet rabbit which is obviously a very good sport.

The sweater is based on the dog sweater on this page (Obviously I had to make this pattern smaller)

Both hat and sweater was made out of 4 ply Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn and a F hook

Hat is my own pattern. If you have questons please let me know

CH 3
12 DC in 3rd CH from Hook (Connect with Slip Stitch)
CH 2  2DC in each DC (Connect with Slip Stitch)
CH 2 2 DC in same space as CH2, 1 DC in next DC * 2DC in next DC, 1 DC in next DC* Repeat until end (Connect with Slip Stitch.
CH1 ^RSC in all stitches (Connect with Slip Stitch) ^=Reverse Single Crochet
CH1 SC in all Stitches (Connect with Slip Stitch)
CH1 SC in all Stitches (Connect with Slip Stitch)
Tie off

I secured the hat with two small pieces of elastic, one on each side of the hat that I use around the rabbits ears. After seeing these pictures, I also think I am going to add a Pompom to the top of the hat.

I am certain this would make an adorable combo for a small dog, Of course, you would have to make it larger LOL

Sunflower Purse.

This weekend my new purse broke (Of course) so in a rush I needed to have another. Sooo while I was watching a movie, I created this one. It took me about 2 hours and the sunflower on the flap was just one left over from a flower arrangement that I made here at the house.

I made this freehand, so there is no pattern online. If you are interested, I can write out a pattern. I know it is hard to tell from the picture, but the bag is a pretty dark mauve color. I made the bag out of worsted weight yarn. Total cost of this project: Less than one dollar! I got the yarn on clearance for 75 cents! Gotta love those sales!

My Poncho

I know it isn't the best photograph, but it is the only one that I have where I am wearing the poncho. I made it out of Red Heart Giant (1 pound) Worsted weight yarn. This was a free hand project, my FIRST free hand project  I think it turned out pretty darned well. I don't have a written pattern for this one, but if you want it, let me know and I will sit down and write it out.
