January 04 Dog Salmon TreatsRajah is absolutely addicted to "Yummy Chummies", a Salmon dog biscuit that is available in Alaska (and Alaskan made). Well since we live in Virginia now, he gets them whenever we have excess money to blow (OR when I go to Alaska), needless to say... he doesn't get them that often. Well, last night he finished the LAST BAG of his Yummy Chummies and threw a complete PUPPY FIT. SO, being the ex-Barkery owner... I created a "Yummy Chummy" knockoff recipe. To visit the Yummy Chummy website go to http://www.yummychummies.com I HIGHLY recommend purchasing from this company. They create more than just biscuits!
If you use this recipe, please let me know what you think! OR MORE IMPORTANTLY, what your DOG thinks!
Rajah's Salmon Treats Recipe
Makes 2 cookie sheets!
1 can salmon (undrained)
2 Cups wheat flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/3 cup water
1 tsp liquid smoke
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Add all of the above ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend until very well blended. Remove and knead until it is a soft dough (almost like the dough of a pie crust). Seperate into two equally sized balls
Take a lightly greased cookie sheet and roll out to about 1/4" thickness. Use a pizza cutter and cut into small rectangles (We do this because that is what a Yummy Chummy looks like). Bake for 20-30 minutes but watch closely for burning.
This makes a soft but crunchy biscuit. If you would like a HARD biscuit, turn oven off at 20 minutes and leave in the oven overnight. Rajah recommends the soft biscuit more than the crunchy
As with all of my biscuit recipes I always recommend that you freeze excess biscuits and keep the rest refrigerated.
